It was as much about the past as it was the future for the NIOA leadership team who visited Maryborough this week for a tour of the new $60 million Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions plant, the most advanced purpose-built facility of its kind anywhere in the world. It’s a far cry from the roadside servo at nearby Tiaro where a number of our team stopped enroute for a nostalgic snap to mark the place where almost 50 years ago Barbara Nioa ran the family business, pumping petrol, selling fruit and smallgoods.
