The Benalla tenancy will see NIOA playing a key role in delivering munitions for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and supporting the Australia Government.

NIOA has been appointed as the Prime Contractor for Stage 1 of Tranche 1 to conduct market solicitation, testing, recommendations to Defence and acquisition for new Close Combat and Sniper weapon systems.

Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions (RNM) is a joint venture between Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH and NIOA to manufacture advanced munitions in Australia.

Current Australian Defence capability program to acquire, qualify and sustain a modern family of advanced 155mm projectiles, propelling charges, fuzes, primers and packaging that are military off the shelf (MOTS).

Awarded in 2017, NIOA supplies and support a wide range of munitions under the Major Munitions Contracts (MMC). This long-term arrangement continues to achieve Defence objectives for consolidated supply arrangements, improved value for money, reduced transactional costs and gradual modernisation of selected ADF munitions.

NIOA has delivered and is currently supporting (via the weapons sustainment contract), the MK47 Automatic Grenade Launcher to Defence under the LAND 40 Phase 2 Light Weight Automatic Grenade Launcher program.

The NIOA weapon sustainment team manages the demand and replenishment of associated weapon system parts and accessories.

NIOA supplies and supports the munitions for the 30mm cannon and smoke screening munitions for the LAND 400 Phase 2 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle capability.

LAND 1508 will acquire new, and modernise existing, special operations capabilities against multiple capability themes.
