March 11, 2019; U.S. Department of Defence announces the award of an estimated USD$49,936,300 five year contract to Barrett Firearms for the purchase of the Advanced Sniper Rifle (ASR).

Barrett’s Multi Role Adaptive Design (MRAD) rifle was chosen after a full and open competition with 5 other weapon systems.

This announcement follows the selection of the Barrett MRAD rifle by the New Zealand Defence Force in a full an open competition with 3 other weapon Systems in 2018.
